ballboy
Since the release of their first ep ballboy have received great acclaim from press and media across the uk. Most notable might be the five sessions for the late John Peel including a Christmas show in 2003 broadcast live from his house. The band have set up their own label "Pony Proof Records" and recently released their fifth album "I Worked on the Ships". Characterised by Gordon Macintyre’s thoughtful and wry lyrics, ballboy flit from acoustic mode to towering live full-band performances. Having performed at past Tigerfests around Scotland, we are proud and rather excited to finally host their Dunfermline debut.
Prior to this homage to the Velvet Underground chanteuse who died 21 years ago, Audrey Redpath previously sang in the 80's with Pop Wallpaper and Grace River. Following sporadic appearances at Je t'aime Gainsbourg and Mondo Morricone, Audrey worked with Paul Haig and then, inspired by David Scott, produced this set of alternative pop classics with assistance from Ali Wilson, Mike Nolan and Brian Branford. Few singers do Nico justice, but Audrey's interpretation will entertain and inspire.
The Leeds six-piece contains, perhaps inevitably, no members called either Rose or Taylor. However, their romantic selection of acoustic lullabies and soft, hushed vocals are guaranteed to combine melodoc memorable pop with a severe case of goosebumps.
Saint Jude’s Infirmary are Tigerfest alumni, having performed at the Carnegie Hall three years ago. Since then their dark, almost Gothic songwriting has taken a literary turn with a much-talked-about collaboration with painter Jack Vettranio, with Ian Rankin Rebus appearing the video. The 5-piece, whose roots are in Fife, recently released single ‘Little Sparta’ to very favourable reviews..
