The Stantons
The Stantons are a lineup-shifting septet who play music on country instruments. At times deathly slow harmonised bluegrass, but contrasted with banjo-fused hoedowns, it’s the country of the deep south (NB: not Portobello).
Led by a hard-wired and intrinsic talent, Kirsten Adamson spent time in Nashville with dad Stuart Adamson of Big Country and recognised at the tender age of 12 that her particular songwriting style was 'a little more country' than a girl from Scotland should be. A spell as guest vocalist for Big Country both live and on the album Driving To Damascus was followed by her writing her first album and being lucky enough to meet 4 like minded individuals, with talent and passion for her music, and The Gillyflowers were born..
Born of sorrow in the North East of Scotland, the then-duo moved south to Glasgow to spread their joyous word, play lots of shows and write lots of songs. Some say it’s indie, some say power pop, others say alt-country, the important thing to remember is Le Reno Amps are not high brow, they are in fact the lowest brow. These three men and a little lady operate so far out of fashion they stand-alone and shine with a majestic beauty.
