Ulrich Schnauss was born in northern Germany fishing port Kiel in 1977, during his formative years he grew a love for a broad spectrum of music ranging from my bloody valentine to tangerine dream, chapterhouse to early bleep & breakbeat tracks. Now, with 3 albums released, his ambient tracks are more spacious, the songs more memorable, the multi-layered, guitar-heavy tracks more ragingly psychedelic.
Funkspiel is basically Nick Prior and Bill Walsh mucking around with musical gadgets to create catchy electropop tunes and indulge our new wave tendencies. We perform live from time to time. The duo have written soundtracks for films and stage productions (including some new electronic scores for old Dada films from the 1920s, screened at The Edinburgh Filmhouse). Currently, they're working on putting an album together, producing some new soundtrack material and are also looking to recruit a female vocalist.
