Barely 9 months after 2001 finished, we celebrate some of the top acts of that yeat - at Nice'n'Sleazy on Saturday 7th September.

Taking the lead of YOU, the voter, we have had a quick scan at how the voting's gone and to take part in the show, chosen some bands who've done particularly in the voting.

Josephine were nominated in the 'Best Newcomer' category. They've released 2 singles - 'Vinyl Hit 'and 'This is Not an Exit' which have both gained some radio airplay and sold out their pressings. Their debut album "This is Not an Advertisment' is out on Lithium on September 16th.

They are working on their first album proper and will tour the USA with Cinerama in the autumn. Oh, and they're up for 'Best Artist' here this time.
(Note that this will be an acoustic set from Gordon Macintyre)

Debaser : the Tayside band were nominated as Best Newcomer following a couple of ep's including 'Thirty Fingers' which garnered good reviews. They mix noisy guitar rock with more melodic material, and, surprisingly, sound very litle like the Pixies.

Slowloris : another nominee in the Best Newcomer category, this Edinburgh 3-piece make sparse, at times ethereal melodies based around Caireen's distinctive vocals. The band have appeared on the likes of the Smoke compilation and The Littlest Album but are working on their first release proper.
